Results are estimates based on the dimensions, target and fixture specifications entered, together with the assumptions described on the calculator and About pages. A calculated light count, spacing value or coordinate is not an installation instruction, certification or guarantee of a particular result.

Actual lighting can differ because of room finishes, reflectance, furniture, obstructions, daylight, voltage, fixture variation, dimming, installation position and other conditions the calculator does not model.

Simplified model

The calculator uses a simplified lumen-method estimate with fixed utilization and light-loss factors. Its beam view and 32 × 32 sampled heatmap use an illustrative symmetric approximation normalized to the calculated average.

These outputs are not measurements, an IES photometric simulation, a glare analysis or verification of minimum illuminance at every point. Preset targets are starting references for general room lighting, not universal requirements.

Product and installation decisions

Before purchasing or installing fixtures, confirm the exact model, output, beam, wattage, environmental rating, clearances, controls and other relevant specifications with the manufacturer. Product information and availability may change after the source-check date shown on the site.

The calculator does not assess wiring, circuits, structure, insulation contact, fire or moisture ratings, access, permits, energy rules or other installation requirements. Project suitability and applicable requirements should be checked for the actual location by an appropriately qualified professional.
